Cardinal Dolan and many in the American Catholic leadership should have thought about the consequences when they betrayed their tenets by promoting and supporting Obamacare. Jesus said: "Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar." not "Let Caesar do the Church's work on your behalf." The American Catholic leadership get no sympathy from me.

What leftians would have religious organizations do isn't just about the Catholic Church. The Church has many flaws as should be expected considering it is run by humans. However, what is done to the Catholic Church today by leftian power may happen to yours tomorrow. Defense of the Catholic Church is important to prevent additional totalitarian advance on those of us outside the Church.

Col-I'm not Catholic, but I agree with you. I don't have any religious problem with birth control, but I recognize the Catholic Church's right to their doctrine and the Constitutional protection they SHOULD have against being forced to provide birth control in their health insurance policies. If Obama has no respect for that Constitutional right, why would anyone think he'd have any respect for any other?

At that point, one of them crawled out from under his rock and informed me that "libertarians and watching this attentively and will engage if anything important comes to be involved." Though that is a paraphrase, it is close.

Yes, the Catholic hierarchy stepped in it. Of course, they have been doing so for about a generation at this point. That should not, however, be held against the individual clerics and the strong minority of lay Catholics who have not lost their faith or their minds.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan closed out the DNC convention Thursday night with a benediction asking for protection of the unborn, a bold move in an arena full of people who celebrated what has been described as "abortion palooza" all week in Charlotte. Not to mention, the Democratic Party adopted a platform that promotes taxpayer funded abortion and abortion at any time, in any place, for any reason this week. President of NARAL Nancy Keenan even called for abortion to be viewed as an act of dignity during her speech Tuesday.
