Let’s Help Academia Destroy Itself

While some of the comments concerning college majors of questionable market value are true, the majority of the tone of this article is nothing but red meat ego massage for those who completed their formal education at the HS level or below. They often are trapped in low skill jobs that are being outsourced to low wage countries and therefore are frantically praying to make it to retirement age when they can draw SS and Medicare, all the while voting for the party that is dedicated to the destruction of those programs.

You seem to be looking in a mirror, Neil.

Sorry Bill, I'm doing great in spite of the fact that I have an MS. I know the current trend for conservatives is to dismiss any and all higher education in favor of your cherished beliefs. eg-Climate change isn't caused by any human activity, dinosaurs and people occupying the planet about 6000 years ago, etc. but try to get with the 21st century. By the way, I've been a self employed businessman for over 30 years.

"climate change"?, "dinosaurs"? You are not aware this is the 21th Century?

Neil are you even sober? You babble out so much nonsense.

And which party wants to destroy these programs?
soliton2 Wrote: Mar 04, 2013 4:18 PM
But the Dems have been much more successful at the destruction.

You need to know something of History, which I see you have no clue!
Democrats changed S/S from a volunteer program to mandatory!
Democrats changed S/S from a separate and independent fund to part of the General Fund!
Democrats have allowed legal and illegal aliens to get money from S/S who haven't contributed a penny to S/S.
Etc., etc., etc., etc.
Jack, it's time to go back to school and this time learn something!

rdixon, Check out your facts. You've posted a bunch of lies.

Conservatives should welcome the decline of academia as we know it. I, for one, will celebrate its death by engaging in the same activity that characterized my four years at what some call its pinnacle– drinking a lot of Coors Light.

There is still nostalgia among conservatives, especially older ones who have forgotten what college is really like, for the idea of higher education as a rigorous venue for intellectual growth, an environment of exciting and vibrant ideas shared by wise, caring educators dedicated to the pursuit of truth.

Today, it is nothing of the sort.

For the vast majority...
