In Blighty it was a well known and publicised fact, no one gave it a second thought until 'Sir' Jim's posthumous fall from grace. The more cynical might say it was the fact he associated with powerful people (Thatcher, the Royal family, Police Chiefs) that enabled him to carry on his nefarious activities
Why so? She was very good friends with him, they used to spend New Years Eve together

Speaking as someone who actually had to endure living through the Thatcher Years in the UK I can assure you that while any death is sad not everyone here is shedding tears

I hadn't realised the author was the son of Ronald Reagan, he has never mentioned it before

A few points, while by no means perfect and undoubtedly presiding over some serious corruption he was by any definition not a "dictator", the poor in Venezuela did see improvements in their lives and he had a lot less blood on his his hands than many of the 'dictators' that the US has supported
Was Reagan the authors father? I never knew that, he has never mentioned it before

At last something on townhall I can relate to!!! I've been learning the tenor sax for the last year in the UK (an 'evil liberal' instrument to many here I'm sure!!) I've managed to get through the first two grades with distinction which I'm pleased about. Definitely recommend learning an instrument at a 'later age' (I'm 45). I find I'm a lot more patient than I was when I tried to learn the guitar at 14 (got frustrated that I wasn't Jimi Hendrix after a month) and it does an ageing mind good to learn new things. I've also developed an interest in jazz which was a genre I knew ver little about.
