Benghazi lies, IRS persecution of political opponents, and wiretaps. Hat trick!

If politics trumps pure science and mathematics, as Hawking has demonstrated, then I wonder what will be his position on Global Warming? Oh my, rock ..... meet hard place.

David3036 Wrote: "Here's the bottom line." ----------------------------------------------------------------- I'm sorry sir but I disagree. The bottom line is in the Scout Oath. "On my honor, I will DO MY BEST to do my duty to God." Open homosexuality is one of many things I would reject in a Scout leader. I would also reject an open thief. Or an open drunkard. Or an open idolator. These are all sin. I would reject a heterosexual leader that sat around the campfire filling the boys' minds with lust. It is sin. Our duty is to God, our country and our self. A Scout leader should be humble, strong, knowledgeable, and willing to sacrifice his own sinful pleasures for the good of the troop. THAT man gets my support. We're not picking just on the homosexuals. But they have framed it as such.

There's an old saying. "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything." Unfortunately, many people in society do not possess the mental discrimination skills necessary to figure out the ultimate result of giving in to social pressure. Any "gift" received by the Boy Scouts with strings attached is called a bribe. Bribery is also against the Scout Oath. So, yes. It's worth it.

You discriminate every day and think nothing of it. That is not a slur, think deeply about what I said. Discrimination is part of our logic process where we attempt to optimize results of our choices. Scouting chooses to reject members who support ideals other than what Scouting chooses to support. Similarly, businesses choose to discriminate in their hiring - drug addicts and alcoholics are rejected. Similarly, city governments discriminate in their selection of who is qualified to carry a driver's license. Similarly, background checks discriminate those who are not fit to own a gun. Discrimination is a good thing. Smart people do it.

Precisely. I do not care if they are homosexual, heterosexual or asexual. Sexuality does not belong in Scouting. Period. I would reject a Scout leader that was openly a thief. Or a liar. Or a drunkard. Or one that was in an adulterous relationship. That is all sin. The Scout Oath says "on my honor, I will DO MY BEST to do my duty to God." That means we do our best not to sin, and sin is a much bigger word than mere homosexuality.

It is past time to throw out the Executive Council and elect new leaders. I, here, today, charge them with dereliction of duty. They refuse to live by the very Scout Oath and Scout Law they demand of boys in the program. They violate Scouting's core principles. They are not fit to lead the program. Where do I sign up to throw these spineless fools out of office?

Bingo. You could not have said it better.
I know the Palin family, and honestly, if any one of you could spend an afternoon with them you'd come away with a huge smile, and feel grateful you got to know them. They're good people. Simple as that. Good folks.
