It's Not Just the Economy, Stupid!

Thanks for the article Dennis. As important as the economy is there are some other big worries a lot of people have about the basic direction this country seems to be taking. If the basic values continue to crumble all the money in the world isn't going to help us much. The centerpiece of the Romney campaign has been presented ad infinitum as "we'll win on the economy,"... the economy, the economy...and try to be as mushy and elusive on the other issues as we can. Unfortunately, we need a lot more than that.

I find myself grieving over the Romney campaign. Not having learned the lesson of their McCain pick in '08 the GOP insiders are, I'm afraid, about to pull another in their string of blunders. They crown a somewhat "limp noodle" because "he can win. I'm sure that Romney is in fact a very nice guy and would make a better president than what we currently have, but a man who seems afraid to come out of his hole until he knows which direction the wind is blowing isn't going to inspire much enthusiasm. And sadly enthusiasm and the courage to take a bold stand are things he and the country both desperately need. Right now many in his base are willing to vote for him but only in desperation. He needs a lot more than that.
Good article Scott. I think a lot of conservatives were let down when so many of the establishment GOP essentially sought to crown Romney before a some of us even got a chance to cast our votes. In the end just a few states essentially picked our candidate. The heavy backing and endorsements as establishment Republicans slobbered over Romney as "the one who can beat Obama" carried their man through. Of course the somewhat fragment conservative field played its role also.
