The tax reform will have to raise more revenue from those who pay little or no taxes now. --- You mean like Romney? And you are also right that we should be upset that so many do not even make enough money to be in a taxable bracket. So how do you propose we help them make more money so that they do get into a taxable bracket? How about we start with raising the minimum wage. Maybe on a tiered system so that large companies like WalMart actually have to pay a living wage.

I have long believed that reform in the justice system would require any illiterate to be able to read at the 8th grade level prior to being released from jail. The sentencing should state that an inmate must serve a minimum number of months/years and longer if required for said inmate to pass a reading test. They failed to learn to read when they had the chance in school, now let them be remanded until they learn to read. After they get out, they might just be able to get and keep a job.

So how about the school dropouts going back to school and acquiring skills that would make them worth at least the current minimum wage and hopefully somewhat more. Wages are connected to the value added by the employee, not a reward for having been born and still being alive and breathing.

Romney and other wealthy people pay the taxes that raise most government revenue, but we can raise more revenue from them by making it more rewarding for them to invest. Those who do not pay taxes should pay so they have a stake in the system. Their incomes will grow as we raise demand for workers through vigerous growth. There isn't any other way, unless you like what dependency has done to our inner cities, to the welfare class in England etc. Raising the minimum wage is of course really stupid, but it tells me where you are coming from. Abject economic ignorance.

Get a clue Mainstream Media. Raising the minimum wage hurts the poor, puts people out of work, keeps the young from entering the work force, puts more people on welfare increasing the dependency on government. Or is that the intent? "Living wage" is a stupid term coined by Socialists. You want to pay more for everything you buy at Walmart and every other store? I didn't think so.

The Consumer Price Index was released this morning. It was up slightly.

Some are mystified by the economic results of the expansionary Federal Reserve policy. The Fed is working to try and get inflation started, but it doesn’t come. There is no inflation in the economy yet. The reason, money isn’t turning over. It’s being created by the Fed and it gets stuck into the banking system. Banks aren’t lending because they increased their requirements for lending after the financial crisis, and after the passage of Dodd-Frank. Additionally, because of all the...
