In nearly every situation where I have heard someone requested government records under FOIA, that person was denied. It seems the only time the government complies with such requests is when they are certain there is nothing to hide, so how does FOIA really do any good? When there is a chance the government will be called on some overstep, they just declare “national security” and refuse to release said documents. Btw, did Congress ever get all the documents they wanted on Fast and Furious?

The seemingly omnipresent storm clouds hanging over the Constitution often make it hard to find a silver lining. Every day, the front page of The Drudge Report is littered with stories of government assaults on our civil liberties -- from local government officials all the way up to the Oval Office.
