Shapiro's rant was a non-argument of substantial effort to reinforce his lack of maturity on the issue. His arrogance should not be mistaken for anything else but misguided rhetoric.
There has been 'no' bill introduced in Congress to illiminate the 2nd Amendment, so go home and take your antianxiety pills and remember that all is well. Safety rules for our cars and our highways did not ban the use of cars; therefore, safety rules for the use of guns will not ban all guns.
If Piers Morgan can not openly express his opinion then no one in America, including it's officials, have that right to stand up to opinion around the rest of the world. It's called "Freedom of Speech"....if we don't honor our 1st Amendment, then why should we honor the 2nd, and why, then, would we have the right to try to spread Democracy around the world?
Why do you need to have an assault weapon? And who says it's your 'legal' right to have one? The 2nd Amendment speaks to a well regulated militia and the right to bear arms, so if you want to purchase what was intended in those days by the Framers who wrote that Amendment, then go ahead and get yourself a musket and join the well-regulated militia, it's called the U.S. Military.
If individuals are able to take care of themselves then how come 3000 people were killed in a mass murder on 9/11? They weren't able to take care of themselves. Be grateful we have the U.S. militay to protect you and me...some tyrants KNOW FOR A FACT YOU CAN'T TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
So you believe that Americans 'own' God. I'm sure the Vatican would have something to say to you about that.
When you are willing to place a gag order on another human being then you go against our 1st Amendment rights...you can't have it both ways. Either you support the U.S. Constitution or you don't.
Morgan did not say he wanted to "....ultimately wants to ban citizens from owning all arms...". He has consistenly said that he appreciates and respects the 2nd Amendment but doesn't understand the need for public citizens to own assault weapons. And he also said he has not found one person who can give him a sound reason why. Shapiro was not able to answer this question either other than to look into his magic ball to predict that his grandchildrens' generation may have to face "tyranny" from the government.
I agree with you that I don't think the headline here is reflective of what actually transpired during the broadcast...I, too, saw the show and thought this young man was, not only irrationale in his thinking, but presumed that all should remain in the status quo with regard to gun control. . His premise is th public citizens continue to have access to stock pile guns of all guns because he believes his grandchildrens' generation will need them to fight the "tryanny" of our U.S. Government. More guns in the hands of what he calls the "good guys" who he believes will take care of the "bad" guys is as about as symplistic a solution to mass killiings as is the notion that Santa Clause decides who's naughty or nice.
