I believe the Republican party screwed up in Iraq on purpose! They did not want the US Army to control Iraqi society after the fall of Saddam. The Neo-Conservatives and Republican party believed Iraqi society could be re-styled to suit America's need after a whole lot of looting took place Folks, read "Policy for a New American Century." Republicans have the same philosophy here in the USA, it's called 'starve the beast.'

In the wake of Mitt Romney's loss, many Republicans say the GOP must make far-reaching changes to be competitive in future elections. White voters are a smaller and smaller part of the electorate, they point out, while Latinos and other minorities are growing as a percentage of the voting public.
