Akin's Idiocy is Infectious

"You are a self righteous savage. You do not give a rat's left nut about that "baby"." John protests too much. Every time before that I've been attacked with that degree of viciousness for defending helpless, innocent human beings' right to life it has turned out that my attacker had aborted one or more of her babies. Have you connived at the killing of your own flesh and blood, John? Are you attacking me to relieve your own guilt for committing the gravest evil less genocide -- the slaughter of the helpless unborn?

Nope. Guess your record isn't so perfect. But that doesn't change the fact that you want to make other people suffer so you can feel morally superior. I can see it now. WOman lying in a hospital bed. Beaten, raped, likely to be pregnant. SHe wants RU 486. Her doctor recommends RU 486. Her children want her to have it. Her husband wants her to have it. her parents want her to have it. her pastor wants her to have it. But in walks mom of 4 with a halo around her head and syas "Too bad, cause I say you have to carry this pregnancy to term."

Yes, and this situation justifies MILLIONS of other abortions.

Exceptional cases make bad law. Everyone knows that. Even pro-lifers disagree on this one. But Mother of 4 is more consistent than the left wing which claims to care about the helpless while defending killing children in the womb, and proclaiming that "choice" is very important unless you're talking about whether one can choose what type of flush toilet or light bulb you want to use in your own house.

Actually, all we are telling the victim is: "We understand you have been the victim of a terrible crime, but that does not entitle you to kill or injure your innocent baby."

Actually, the woman lying in a hospital bed and beaten would have received the emergency treatment upon being admitted.

The issue of abortion after rape is not an issue of emotion or compassion. It is an issue of human rights and of justice.

Todd Akin's idiocy appears to be infectious.

The evil genius of the Missouri congressman's comments is that they lend themselves to such broad interpretations -- and misinterpretations.

By now his remarks are familiar, but just in case ...

Akin told a local TV interviewer: "First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare." He continued: "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

My own take is that there's a dual-core of asininity here. First, Akin's formulation makes it sound...
