4th of July, please meet Islamic Iran

It seems to me that we are projecting a great deal onto the protesters. They are angry at Ahmadinejad's election fraud and disagree with some of his policies, but is there really any evidence that they want freedom from the oppression of an Islamic state? I believe we should encourage them, but this isn't another Hungarian revolution. I'm not convinced that there would be much appreciation for American intervention, and I don't have much confidence in the idea that if the Iranians throw out Ahmadinejad , it would change all that much in the direction we hope for. Then we would have once again armed and equipped a new regime that turns on us and or their neighbors. I'd really like to see what some of you think of this article from the...
