Yes he wants to maintain his credibility, but only with his boss to keep his job. As Obama leads (living the high life on the taxpayer's backs, lying to us and making the rules up as he goes along) so shall government employees follow.

I'll go ahead and give Carney the benefit of the doubt here: perhaps, in his mind, he really doesn't deliberately, consciously, technically tell lies, and it's true that it's his job to peddle a lot of incomplete information that he can't totally divulge for...
