A few years ago, the hosts of BBC's Top Gear, one of the best shows on any network, went to Japan where two of them took public transport across a large stretch of the country, while the third drove a car. It was a point to point race. Part of the route taken by the transport riders included the famous bullet train. The car won the race. Say no more.

But that's not even the point. The point is is it good for us? I don't care if the Japanese want to waste money on a high speed train (and all but one line is a loser in Japan and all but one in Europe is a financial loser. But CA voters (and I'm a CA voter) voted for it without reason and any common sense. Anyone that lives here knows it's silly, it will always be a boondoggle. There is simply not a lot of traffic between NoCal and SoCal except on holidays and weekends. There is no clamoring for a better solution. You can be sure it will be $100bil before it's done, and the recurring costs won't even be covered by ticket revenue.

If the world without a strong American economy struggles, so too does an America without a strong California economy. 

The Golden State, which once represented the promise of America, is mired in swampland of broken promises, graft, political stupidity and liberal fantasy.

And if California represents the very best government that liberals can give us- and it likely does- then this country had better take a deep breath and step away from progressive math.

Because, it just doesn’t add up.

California has a government that is structurally unable to support its’ addiction to runaway government spending- like DC;...
