The whole budget process is a friggin joke. Both sides put forth a ten year projection based on ifs and buts, smoke and mirrors, by guess and by golly. The last nine years of the damn things aren't even binding. They can "balance" the M-F by projecting that 33% of the population will win the powerball lottery every year between 3 and 10 which would produce a huge tax windfall. Of course it's all fiction that doesn't even deserve serious discussion, except for the fact that they're talking about our money.
