Just as in Viet Nam, in Afghanistan we're fighting a bunch of fanatics. The cause may be different, but the zealotry is equally intense. Muslims in general and the Taliban specifically have been carrying a grudge against infadels for centuries and they're unlikely to get over it any time soon. Fighting them is like dealing with diahhrea, you can't control what's gonna happen or when. The only thing you have control over is where it will happen.
