Mike, this prof has obviously never fired a gun and likely never even seen one in real life. Invite him out to the range to shoot with you some time. He'd likely be stunned to see the care and respect with which shooters treat their weapons and each other. Chances are that after sending a few rounds downrange, his attitude will change. Put him behind the trigger of a .50 cal, and it will definitely change.
