His parents weren't born here, but he was. Last time I checked, Baton Rouge is still considered part of the US.

The Suicide of a Denomination

I echo the thanks for the mention of the PCA. It strongly maintains it's faithfulness to scripture and Jesus's teachings. The denomination is growing, the churches are growing, gee, wonder why.
We were self insured for many years when my husband had his own business. Long story short, his business failed, he got a job, lost that one due to downsizing, but got another one at a bigger company that seems to be growing. So we gave up our private policy thinking that the company benefits had to be better. Well, at the same time as all this, our private insurer, Humana, announced that they would no longer insure children. We could have kept our policy and been "grandfathered" into the new system or something. Oh, our rates did go up about 20%. So we thought we'd go with the new plan. Well, the choices are bad and worse. Without naming names, the only two companies offered were terrible. One was a "discount" health policy...
Just to add more mess to this race, I saw a horrible ad on TV yesterday or the day before. (I'm in a different district, but still in metro Orlando TV market.) It was put out by Grayson and the gist of it was that Daniel Webster hates women. He is part of a group that doesn't want women to work outside the home, he would "force" women who've been raped to bear the child of their attacker and I think there was a third thing, but I was disgusted and quit paying attention. Seriously, if I weren't informed and I saw this ad, I would not vote for Webster. I don't work outside the home, I am pro-life and have never been raped, but if I thought these things were serious, they'd affect me. What can Webster do to combat this ad, do you...
I'm not sure what the 1900 feet rule is. My parents live in Orlando and had several productive, mature citrus trees. After the year of the hurricanes, they had to permit all these trees to be cut down. Why? Because citrus canker had been discovered several miles away. Their compensation? About $100 per tree, paid in gift cards. Oh, now we find out that it wasn't necessary. So Bill McCollum could have done something about it? I'm now even more glad I voted for Rick Scott. Florida needs jobs. Not bureaucrats cutting down productive trees, that aren't sick, for a reason that turned out to be useless.

Repeat After Me: Mothers Belong at Work

Interesting. So, you'd call me a loser? To my face? Without meeting me? You said so, here:

Women
Who stay at home with their children are losers who can't get real jobs. How can a woman who doesn't work raise a daughter to survive in the world? The world will continue to be a horrible place filled with wars until women take the reigns of government and business. They can't do that raising their children at home. The sooner we get government funded daycare from 1 month on up, the faster we will get to a world free of violence, death and destruction.

Just so you know, there is no way I'd ever, ever put my one month old baby in daycare. And you see, I have the choice not to. I've been happily married for over...
