Why is it getting so warm? And what are we all doing in this handbasket?
Agreed. Completely nonsensical.

Shrink the size and scope of government and very few of our current issues will still be issues.
I actually agree with Maher and Ellison. I wish the Democratic Party would come out against the 2nd Amendment. Their seething contempt for the entire Constitution has been palpable for years, and the entire notion of individual rights, individual freedoms, and individual responsibility has been anathema to their existence for years. Why not just state the obvious and be out with it?
"Treason doth never prosper: what's the reason? Why if it prosper, none dare call it treason." --John Harrington The "Wrong Side of History" will be determined by whoever is around to write that history. If it comes down to Putin vs. Obama, my money's not on Obama.

The real question is this: how many national elections must the elitist establishment Republicans lose before they realize that they suck at selecting candidates?
I thought Barack Obama was the second coming of Jimmy Carter. Turns out I was mistaken. He is the second coming of Neville Chamberlain.
The message of individual freedom coupled with individual responsibility is a winner for all kinds of people. Thanks for the article.

Not your Father's Cold War

The fact that Putin is a nuclear-armed totalitarian nationalist hungry for more territory rather than a nuclear-armed ideological communist hungry for more territory does not comfort me or convince me that this is not the beginning of a second cold war.
Having a government that preserves the "Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness" is a perfectly valid libertarian position to hold. It is a shame that many libertarians do not seem understand that no one has the "freedom" to end the life of another, save in self defense. There should be no such thing as a pro-abortion libertarian, but so many have an incoherent understanding of the concept of freedom. If you think that someone is "free" to arbitrarily violate the freedom (or life) of another, then you don't understand what freedom actually means.
Excellent summary.
