I know that there are decent, freedom-loving, tolerant atheists out there. Unfortunately the Freedom From Religion sort are all that we see in the news. They do represent atheists. If you are of the decent variety, you need to start doing what we religious folks have gotten in the habit of doing: police the crazies in your own flock. If you don't like how you are being represented by these clowns (and who would?), do something about it.
To lose as a Democrat in Michigan takes some talent. This might be considered the Democrats "Canary in the Coalmine" because if they can't win there, they are in for a world of hurt everywhere.
"Gangster Government" (a phrase Michael Barone coined early in the Obama Administration) has become the norm. There is a line between rule by the consent of the governed and rule by force, and we have crossed it long ago.
