As far as reigning in spending, I'm all for that, but can we not walk and chew gum at the same time? Give them hell on the spending side of the ledger by all means, but the FairTax is a complete reset of the way we collect revenue. Right now we would have to have a 23% national sales tax to bring in the same amount as the taxes the FairTax replaces. I would certainly have no problem with reducing that figure to, say, 20% by reducing expenses proportionally. BTW there is a ton to explain about how the sales tax rate is derrived. Get answers at

The only problem with the fair tax is the exceptions. There should be NO exception to the tax otherwise nothing changes. We will STILL have half the population paying nothing in taxes because they would end up collecting it all back when they declare their exceptions at the end of the year. No citizen or resident of this country should get back any of the taxes they paid. They all enjoy the same rights and the use of the services the government provides, so they should all pay something towards their upkeep.

Yes to the Fair Tax. Taxing income is inefficient as well as arbitrary and capricious.

Arbitrary and capricious is what we have now - "progressive" taxes based on someone else's ideas of "fairness." Of course, those "someone elses" are always putting the sticky-bugger of taxes on others and not themselves.

It's "progressive fairness" that's arbitrary and capricious.

Dear Comrade Doctor,

You have cause and effect jumbled up as most liberal ground troops...
