Chevy Volt Follows Stupid 2012 with Stupider 2013

Anyone who thinks that a new concept vehicle is going to be produced as cheaply as today's conventional car has NO CLUE about the nature of research and development, and the cost of materials. In fact, if they had websites and blogs back in the early part of the 20th century, the same lot of you who are getting a chuckle out of the slow start being experienced by the Volt would probably have been yukking it up over these "ridiculous horseless carriages", suggesting to these fledling auto companies and people nervy enough to buy one to "get a horse".

If you believe that government is the source of "new concepts" most valuable to a liberty loving Americans then you are lost. Please do not regale me with tales of the internet (large scale computer networks existed for at least 25 years prior to Al Gores invention) or the moon landing (the work of German rocket-men).

Government is the home of the brain-dead uber security conscious loser. Nothing they support is worth a cr@p

Wow, you guys are still trotting out that old "invented the internet" thing? If you could learn how to research the internet, you would find that the mis-quote you cite is bunk. Al Gore said "Fund the Internet", which he worked long and hard on when he was in Congress.

Exactly. Too many ways for people to express their stupidity just makes the rest of us more stupid for having read it...

Silly boy. GM can do whatever it wants with its OWN money. When WE the taxpayers have to subsidize their ventures, then there's a problem.

You do realize "you" are subsidizing every single electric vehicle made today by Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Tesla, Fisker and GM, right? Also that you are subsidizing "Big Oil" (who is making more money than God right now and doesn't need the subsidy) thanks to our wise government?

It might be past my bedtime, but you lost me about 30 words into that last sentence.

ColdWolverine, it's past your bedtime.

Well, 50% are below average so I guess you'll have company at least. Try just going one word at a time and see if you can sound them out.

After a year that can only be described as “stupid,” the Chevy Volt is gearing up to make 2013 even stupider still.

I know, I know.

You find it hard to believe that a mostly-owned subsidiary of the United States government and the Obama administration- like GM is- could get any stupider than say Fannie Mae, or Federal Reserve Bank.

Yes, that’s tough competition, but in the “idiocy” category GM seems to be the ruling champion.

Not only have they lost substantial amounts of taxpayer dollars, they have managed to do it while generating record profits...
