the licence only costs $100+ but as an example, here in Las Vegas it costs that, but with the classes, certification and background checks, cost 200-250, and has to be renewed every 5 years but only cost's 1/2 price with everything.
Also those statistics don't prove anything. Last time I checked, if someone armed is trying to rob you or attack you with a gun being involved in the assailants hands, and then the victim pulls a gun, oh wait, the criminal will shoot. It's futile to use a statistic like that because it's just trying to create this illusion that guns are dangerous for defense, the truth is a gun against a gun is a safer bet for me than him with a gun and me without, might I get away without being shot. Yes, but he could still kill me either way, so I'd rather be able to shoot back.
Sadly this is a prime example of gun control failing, the laws we put in place greatly increase the likelihood of a violent crime in respect to the "Gun Free Zone." If this case alone doesn't show you that no matter what the training, experiences, etc, people can and will still become victims. Criminals target "soft targets" which are people who feel safe, and know they aren't armed. It's our right to defend ourselves, and the governments shouldn't put limits on it. Cops aren't the answer, because even if we had one on every street corner, they still can't deal with everything going on. What is the answer is to stop disarming law-abiding citizens and focus on the criminals with gun.
You have no common sense in my honest opinion. I've served in the Military Police for 8 years and in corrections on the civilian state level. I know for a fact criminals like to target "easy prey" which most consider schools and family entertainment establishments. The fact is laws will never protect us from criminals. Also mace is a horrible example, mace doesn't affect 90% of criminals, it's just pepper spray, and a lot of cases are out there where people trying to use it spray themselves by accident, so try OC, which is expensive and the same problem of lots of people aren't extremely affected by it, and you don't have to see to attack someone you already have ahold of. So what now?
