Billions of Dollars or Pounds wasted on a show! It is NOT about "athletics" it is about who can build the biggest, glitziest venue. If it were about Athletics, then they could use existing venues. No, the Olympics are an extension of government egos and largess. As American soccer goalie Hope Solo stated, most of the athletes are there to "hook up", speaking of the rampant sexual activity that Solo says is occurring. London is going to be locked in gridlock for weeks, regular people who are just trying to make a living will be made to wait while the favored ones use special lanes. Infrastructure will be taxed to the breaking point, expensive venues will be abandoned after the games and the taxpayer will be stuck to pay for it all!

I'm ready for the Olympic Games, ready to watch the best athletes in the world giving it all they have. I'm ready to be inspired.

After a long Republican presidential primary soap opera, continuing mediocre economic news, ongoing information on the Greek crisis, the current silliness of the presidential campaign quips of the day, and last week's tragedy in Aurora, Colo., Americans are in desperate need of inspiration.
