Dr. Goodman made a good presentation here, and I always respect his point of view and analyses, however he goes adrift. First, he seems to assume that the govt. NEEDS all the revenue they currently demand. I say first start cutting all the constitutionally unmandated programs by 10% per year (real cuts, not cuts in increases), until they're gone. Second, give a hard cutoff date for Social Security and Medicare. I'd put it at 2032. That warns all 45 yr. olds to start taking responsibility for their own future. But also stop all SSDI deductions immediately. That makes Paul Ryan look like Santa, but it's time we wean the govt. off it's addiction to taxes. Sometimes the only rehab that works is cold-turkey.

I posed this question to Fox News commentator Juan Williams in Dallas the other day. "The top 10 percent of income earners are paying 71 percent of all income taxes," I said. "Isn't that enough?" Although Juan was trying to defend the Obama position, he didn't have an answer.
