I've never even understood men's boxing, let alone women doing it. It's got to be the closest modern day sport we have to the Gladiators going up against lions. Maybe if I understood it more I could see some skill. All I've seen is one guy holding up his gloves to protect his face while the guy tries to beat the krap out of him. I'm not much of a sports fan, so don't give me a hard time.
As an American, I am proud of Olympic Gold medalist Claressa Shields' feat in women's boxing at the Olympics -- but as a woman who has suffered traumatic brain injury, I am deeply concerned that her win will encourage other young women to pursue this dangerous, potentially life-altering sport.
