I've personally known enough cops in my time to wonder if they're all power-hungry, insecure nut-cases. I don't really think that's true of most of them. I've known a couple of fire-fighters that just love the adventure of the job, and the fact that ladies swoon over them after a rescue. I've also known teachers that were dumb as the is long, and others that were great. I don't give a rat's butt. You choose your profession based on what you like, not to just bide your time waiting for the taxpayer funded pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. That just makes for incompetent, lazy workers.

Yes, We wouldn't want any 'tyrannical' leader trying to quash or squash the unions. I'm still waiting for the Pope (or a poop, like you) to sanctify Jimmy Hoffa, or any of the other union leader thugs. If the teachers, policemen, or fire fighters don't enjoy their jobs (without all the perks) then they better find a new line of work. The fact that thousands of CA retired public employees are now earning more than $8000.00 a month in retirement should tell you who's the prince and who's the serf.

Anne, Don't you understand that you can't have a "stimulus" program without Viagra? As far as the kids, we have "free" contraception and subsidized abortions to take care of those little brats. If they should somehow live long enough, we will "invest" in America by making the taxpayers foot the bill so they can get a degree in "The Sociology of Lesbian Sea Turtles" from an over-priced private university. George, You make a good point that war for Civil Rights was won a long time ago, and I'm glad that it was. But why is the NAACP still around, and why does their name still include the perjorative term "Colored People" in it? Can you imagine the fire-storm that erupt if some conservative (even Condi Rice or Allen West) used the term "Colored People". I'm white, I grew up before, and during the Civil Rights movement, and I still hate that term.

I've actually tried to do that, even though I'm very conservative, I don't agree with every column, or every commenter here. When I politely make my point(s), I'm usually assaulted with disparaging remarks. I'm a big boy, and I can take it. When I see an obvious incitor, I stop responding. If I see someone who is too close-minded (even if close to my views), I give up.

I'll agree, that I've seen some obvious trolls. I do my best to ignore them and not feed the animals. Unfortunately, some others have turned some trolls into near-stars, by immediately responding to the peice of red-meat they dangle. My feeling is just don't give them the attention they don't deserve in the first place.
