Bill O’Reilly: Nowhere Man

Far be it from me to defend Bill O'Reilly. I've watched him regularly for over a decade, but I'm getting closer to putting him on my "No Watch List". I don't like his simplistic stance on gun control, his total lack of understanding of the free market, especially in relation to oil, and many other issues. With that said, I think Deace is coming at this with his equally narrow-minded view, which is nothing new for him. He's also twisting the facts at least a little bit. That's fine, because Deace has a very Christian-centric view of things, and almost a fringe-right mentality.

I agree.

What sticks in my craw about O'Reilly, Hannity, Coulter, and now Limbaugh, is the way they cover for the RINO's. Whenever the GOP betrays us, they don't mention it or they play it down, then grandstand against Democrats for it. It's an insult to our intelligence. The latest is the GOP trying to ram the gun control bill and a completely unvetted, "not revenue neutral" immigration bill down our throats in a matter of days with no opportunity for anyone to read it before the vote. The Dems didn't cause that! Toomey, Rubio, McConnell, and other Republicans are to blame for their own actions.

I consider myself very conservative, but I rarely agree with Deace, because it's always "my way or the highway" with him. But, I still enjoy reading his point of view.

Anyway, what O'Reilly was trying to say (rather inarticulately) was in order to win the fight against Gay Marriage 'Rights', in the public forum, you can't just use biblical arguements. Like it, or not, in today's world that is true.

His use of the term "thump the Bible" was stupid. His defense of it was pathetic. But Deace is being at least a bit disingenuous with this column.

Except that no one just uses the Bible as an argument.

Beg pardon? If "evangelical" and "born again," and "fundamentalist christian" is suitable terminology for various bogus congregations;

Why is "Bible Thumper" off limits? All of the above THUMP like crazy! Explain the other things they all do? The only real thing they teach and believe in common is to reject the Catholic faith.

Over the years we have made Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly a lot of money. We bought into his carefully-crafted persona as a populist champion of traditional values with his top-rated Fox News show, as well as best-selling books like Who’s Looking out for You and Culture Warrior.

However, recently the house of cards that is O’Reilly’s iffy worldview has shown signs of collapsing.
