I wish that it weren't true, but I'm afraid that we'll get nothing from this bill. We will pass a few reforms that Congress purports to contain costs. They won't. Eventually more and more people will wonder why their hard work doesn't provide them with health insurance. Hopefully they'll eventually figure out why we messed up.

Granted that he is progressive in nature, it would have been much more honest if Mr. Goldberg had recognized Mr. Dean Baker as an economist. Mr. Baker recognized the house bubble back in 2002, long before most economist realized that this was the case. Calling Mr. Baker a "liberal activist" is like calling Mr. Greg Mankiw a "conservative activist." They both bring a different perspective to the table, but it is misleading if we ignore their previous accomplishments and the fact that they both have Ph.D.s in economics.
