Call me un-enlightened but I never quite got the left's fascination with the mass killing Che Guevera. As for the left's attempt to liken small government Conservatives with the all powerful big government National Socialists, again I can't see the connection. Reminded of the cliche, when you point a finger at someone, your pointing four fingers at yourself.

Democrats’ Political Suicide Pact

The Dems imploding is due to their "business model" of giving their most radical arm the power. The cruel irony for the libs is that they were crowing about the demise of the Republican Party the last couple of years. This deference to the radical left has painted the Dems into a corner and even made their moderate wing into an oxymoron.
The dems scoff at the Laffer Curve, but do so at their own peril. The fact that lower taxes mean higher revenues will never fit the libs template of big government. Sadly, the Laffer Curve may be rendered useless by the massive spending of our government, particularly in the past year.

Your right, a cult of personality can only take you so far. In the realm of politics, style over substance is a bit like "political capital", it can only last so long. This POTUS is finding that governing is much harder than campaigning when you are saddled with a world view that makes you predisposed to boneheaded policy moves.

If this POTUS had advocated a federal tax holiday in lieu of stimulus spending, what do you think would have been the result? It's hard for me to cut a politician slack when their end-game of increased power and wealth trumps the good of society. Over-regulation and over-taxation is not a recipe for a stable or growing economy.

Good article. To paraphrase Strother Martin in Cool Hand Luke....What we have here is failure to empathize. How can Ivy League elitists possibly understand the every day pressures of small business owners? Somewhere along the way we lost the concept of "citizen politicians". Instead we have career politicians whose end-game is simply more power and money.

i'm not buying that the libs are going "kamikaze" with their insistance on shoving such unpopular legislation down our throats knowing that there will be blow back from the voting public. They may be out-of-touch elitists but they know full well that we are a center-right country. It's obvious that if they want to keep their seats then they must either bribe or steal (or both) the upcoming elections.

Higher unemployement and higher energy costs in a down economy. Who would make such a trade in the name of global warming? Why, the liberal-progressives, that's who. How's this for a scientific model....Common sense minus liberalism equals conservatism.
We do not need impotent academics protecting our country. Instead we must have good old fashioned toughness. Lawyering up enemy combatants amounts to some sort of ACLU parody that is as ridiculous as it is unsafe.
"Obama six-pack" somehow just doesn't ring true.
