Stop Torturing Us; Let's Come Home

FIRST—define the word "torture."
I think almost all of you missed the key point, here is the relevent paragraph: "We should make the system faster and nimbler," the president added. "We should provide an instant, accurate, comprehensive and consistent system for background checks to sellers who want to do the right thing, and make sure that criminals can't escape it." To do all this will require considerable "investment;" Obama's remarks are about increased spending. While the Republican's are doing everthing they can to cut spending, they must either support this call for more spending or look like they don't care about criminals and others who are not qualified buying guns. If Republicans agree to "invest" in this, how can they refuse to fund Big Bird and public...
Whose fault would that be? Don't forget the trillion we've spent on education since the 70's.

Sorry, Slick, the news reports quoting Rauf clearly identify the building as a cultural center CONTAINING A MOSQUE. And I can certainly contemplate, say, a Nazi cultural center/museum in downtown Washington (near the Holocaust thingie) to show that Aryan culture is not that represented by the few nutjob fanatics that carried out the atrocity. Fiamanila!

1. That “Boar-doba” special all-you-can-eat pig pickin’ platter for $9.11." actually sounds pretty good! I think you have a winner there! 2. As a back-slidden Catholic who feels that Zeus Optimus and Maximus has gotten a lot of bad press, I have to acknowledge that "charity" is not my strong suit. I can however see the beginning of a trend here. How about a monument to all the brave American airmen who gave their lives to save the world from fascism and tyranny? I would also build this monument at Ground Zero—in Hiroshima! I'm sure everyone would see it as a bridge to reconciliation.

1. Authorize the funds.

2. Stipulate that they're "for illegal alien detention facilities."

3. Give them to Sheriff Arpaio.

4. Instruct him to "Use your best judgement."

A Letter to our Nobel Winner

"But, most of all, feel free to earn your Nobel Peace prize by removing our sons and daughters from a situation where they no longer belong. And use them instead to make a real and lasting difference."

That, of course, is the question. Where, exactly, might we "use them instead to make a real and lasting difference?"

Remember that Democrats, like the Clinton administration, felt that the troops shouldn't just be sitting around, but used for a "greater good." Have we already forgotten Mogadishu and the Balkans? Also remember the liberal test for the use of the military—it can provide no tangible benefit to the United States.

"accountability an alien concept to reactionary conservatives"

Quite the debater!

One group, reactionary conservatives, recently impeached a Democratic president for committing perjury in a Federal court. The other side, the liberals, fought as hard as they could to get their man off, even though there was no doubt that he had committed the crime he was charged with; he was subsequently convicted by a Federal judge.

How did you come down on this issue of accountability, Hal? and how's that "hopey-changey" thing working out for you?

The Smurfs do "Dancing with Wolves." Why are these people considered creative geniuses?

Hmmmm, maybe I can help—Just as the marines and the Na'vi are preparing for the final battle they're required to join forces to defeat

B. Hundreds of robots (from "Terminator")

C. Hundreds of ACLU lawyers (from "American Carol")
