The gun control types message is based on lies and emotion and just plain stupidity. The NRA is putting forth a reasonable message. Obama's expanded backround checks won't work, Joe biden says that we don't have the time to prosecute those people lie on the federal paperwork and the backround checks. 72,000 people were turned down because they were not eligable to buy a firearm but only 42 were prosecuted. IT IS A FEDERAL CRIME PUNISHABLE BY UP TO 10 YEARS FOR SOMEONE INELEGIBLE TO BUY A FIREARM TO ATTEMPT TO BUY ONE. We do not enforece all the gun laws we have now, so why pass more laws that we are not going to enforce.

You must remember that not all turned down applicants are lieing on the form. Many do not know that they can not have a firearm. There may be something in their past, an arrest, something that they are denied. They are issued a letter of why they were denied. Then it is up to them to either clear it up, say in the case of same name as a criminal, or what ever. Many in the denial group are denied by mistake.

If there are new powers or enhanced power to politicians as a result of these laws they will be enforced. For example, if confiscation leads to unfettered power for the pols, that will be enforced. The current set of laws only put some criminals in jail, typically in neighborhoods these pols would never visit so why would they care whether those laws are enforced?

seems that the problem is liberal government

In the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting we all knew that an impending gun debate would be a hard fought battle. Just after this week’s hearing on Capitol Hill, a new Forbes study finds that the NRA is winning the influence battle over gun control. In the new study performed by Forbes Insights, an independent and unbiased organization, they found that the “NRA and the pro-gun rights voices are winning the influence battle and will continue to be strong and more influential if the pro gun control voice remains fragmented”.
