You are absolutely right about what these laws will be used for. My guess is they would really prefer that you don't register because now anytime they want you they have you as a "felon". Write a letter to the editor get a judge to grant a search warrant because you might be a threat and voila off to jail. With that degree of support should be able to vote out anyone who wouldn't repeal the law

Are Guns the Problem?

I remember those days as well. In addition we all knew guns were dangerous (except the ones we played cowboys and indians with) and no one picked up a gun and pointed it at anyone let alone pulled the trigger. Maybe that's why the NY times reports on the increase in "accidental" shootings by kids. Maybe if we brought gun education and guns back into the classroom we could prevent some of those. Maybe if we taught " Safe guns" like we teach safe sex and added a little morality (like don't have kids you can't afford to take care of) we could prevent many of these??
Just had two teenage boys arrested in Southwest Missouri after beating an elderly couple to death. they were stopped and held by a neighbor at gun point until police arrived. No telling how many deaths (including the neighbor) that were prevented.
"Life" begins in the cells before conception that is science when the collection of cells becomes a human being is subject to debate (and has been for centuries) why you are so sure God would destroy about 60% of "human beings" (roughly the percentage of conceptions that end in miscarriages) before they are born is a little confusing to me. For Centuries the catholic church and most other religions considered "quickening" to be the moment the soul entered the fetus and made it human. So I personally don't know the answer and those who claim to "know" the answer are blowing smoke.
