Stu - would it be immoral for someone else to murder you or any of your kids? Would your answer change if you gave consent?

The Inconvenient Truth about Climate Change

The climate-warming fear is a red herring. We've had these throughout history. It's a diagnostic for an insecure culture. The small rise in average regional temperature is just an ebb in the ebb-and-flow climate of the earth. We're now presently in a plateau or cooling trend - which most of us aren't too happy about because its unseasonably cold! And there is no conclusive proof that its anthropomorphic. Big deal. The climate-control hysteria is fueled by a dysfunctional pursuit of righteousness (similar to the whole "wealth redistribution" psychosis). God made humans in his image -- that is, to desire righteousness. We all have that desire, including the infamously heinous actors such as Hitler. The big question is: who's righteousness? God's or Man's? When you hate God (as all humans, full of sin, are apt to do), you hate his righteousness. But you still have the righteousness design hard-wired into you. So you need to placate the need with a false righteousness. That's what the climate warming fear is all about. Trying to pat ourselves on the back with a false righteousness, so that we can emotionally avoid our real moral failings.

Obama’s Blue-Green Bust

Progressivism is the latest, relatively successful, movement of the replacement morality folks. These guys have been around since time began. Since all human beings were created with a strong need/desire to be righteous, they can go one of two basic ways. Return to their Creator and His ways in humble contritition, or invent their own, twisted sense of righteousness/morality. The Liberal Left has invented such a morality. Nevermind all of those Creator virtues (sanctity of life, sexuality safely confined to real marriage, no theivery, everyone needs to work, worship the One true God, etc.). Instead, invent some new moral causes: global warming, free sex for everyone (including abortion), redistribution (i.e., theft) of assets, new order: homosexual "marriages," equality over responsibility, worship the creation rather than the Creator, etc. The Green Thing is just their way of trying to prop up their need for righteosness (while they steal, fornicate, adulterate, murder and not employ themselves industriously).

A la 1984: "Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia..." The Dems have to constantly stoke a cause and a crisis to keep the people oppressed and paying to "win the war"

The Exploitation of College Athletes

Your raise some good points. But I think what you illustrate well is that there's no place for "professional" sports in college. I would like to return to the days when you had to get accepted into college (by grades/scores) and then, after you were there, you could try-out for a collegiate team. That was wholesome. You want to play sports too, great, but don't let your studies suffer. This ugly thing we have today (thanks largely to the TV ad revenue) has no place in college. Let it be a minor league and divorced from college (you know, the place of academic study). Then these "college students" can earn whatever the market bears for them.
Despite the horror of slaverly, there is no doubt that the vast majority of descendants of slaves living in this country today enjoy a far richer life than had they lived in Africa. That doesn't justify slavery one bit, but it should help to frame the reality of being black in America today (for both white and black folks to contemplate).

Ann Coulter's Conservative Sell-Out

Ann is very insightful and talented in her communication. She continues to arrest me with the truth and at the same time make me laugh. But, I would agree with Mike Adams that there are times she goes to far for reaction (or has lost her quality control). The other irony is her support for Mitt Romney early in the primary process. Her attitude was that we need to support a winnable candidiate (she was nearly correct). She has also decried the Republican in-fighting over primaries (e.g., Tea Partiers sometimes ousting electable RINOs for non-electable conservatives). These examples do not square with the Hillary's my girl statement.
Great article. And it reminds me of the theme of your book, Liberal Fascism. Of course, those historical liberals are the same as our current variety. Liberals have a distinct political advantage. They are the ones who want to operate and manipulate in government. Therefore, they are inclined to get involved in public affairs -- including politics -- more than Conservatives. Conservatives tend to want to live in a live-and-let-live country, where trust is in the common man (a la John Adam's maxim). The Proglodytes though, have developed a successful 2-pronged attack against trust your common man governance: 1) Destroy the moral fabric of the country through attacks on biblical morality and Christianity (and then wait for breakdown) 2) March in with the State to "fix" the moral decline with its control
