I haven't read the previous 117 comments so may be redundant, but the whole concept reeks of nationalizing our children, making them little Obamabots (Progressives) as early as possible, with cradle-to-grave indoctrination. No thanks.
President Obama's recent stumping for a federal preschool initiative has promised a lot to America. In his State of the Union speech, he spoke of making "high-quality preschool available to every single child in America." In his push, however, President Obama is promising something he has no plan to deliver.

As Russ Whitehurst writes, the Obama preschool proposal as currently constructed is far from "universal."
