1. Statutes are written by the legislature, owned and operated by the public sector unions. 2. That's simply your opinion; you back it up with no evidence of any kind. 3. They all have committed 2 felonies, but in many cases not violent ones. That's one example of a way to modify 3-strikes to be more effective and let people who really aren't a threat out. 4. See #2. 5. We don't have private prisons in CA. We house prisoners in private prisons but in other places. In short, you are wrong, David, not Jonah. Open your mind. Public sector unions, particularly here in CA, are destructive and prevent reforms that would improve conditions. This is as true with prisons as it is with teachers.

Obama: Civility for Thee, but Not for Me

...itself out. More and more people are noticing that he's a complete hypocrite on the subject. He and Pelosi whine about the supposed elevated level of vitriol coming out of the GOP and it's a case of 100% projection. That is, Republicans are just standing up on principles (for the first time in a while), while the Democrats savagely attack them, treating them like mortal enemies. It's become so routine for them they don't realize that more people are catching on to this dishonest tactic. It will eventually bite them back.
