What government handouts to the oil industry are you talking about? As far as I know the government hasn't given the oil company any handouts (i.e. "free" money [like GM and Chrysler]). The government does give them tax credits for exploration, dry hole costs, drilling, depreciation but then government gives the same tax breaks to other non-oil companies as well. Montana Mike

By passing Continuing resolutions, all the spending increases that were added as part of the stimulus became part of the budget.
