NRA Slams Biden Meeting

I attend several gun shows per year. One of the requirements of every gun show I've attended is that each vendor operate as if it was their store. Paperwork is as strict adhered to. Background checks are an absolute. The left is beating a straw man. There is no gun show loophole. Every person buying or selling at a gun show follows all the prescribed state and federal laws and regulations. Ditto for auctions. It is illegal to do otherwise. Gun owners do not want the mentally deranged or criminals to be able to get firearms. Let's approach the problem from the cause side. With Biden's logic, cars will soon be banned because some people drive drunk and harm people. Perhaps that is why Salazar was in the meeting.

You know this. I know this. The NRA knows this. The general public does not know this and, after decades of lies, are unlikely to believe it even when thusly informed. They like to use the term "loophole" for a very specific reason. Get ready for the term "private sale loophole", btw. The reason is that very few today can remember a time when FFL did not have to do the background check but that the law was passed at a time when no such thing existed. Anyone could sell guns, even by mail order, to anyone. It was impractical to make a law requiring Federal paperwork for private gun sales and a law like that would not have been likely to pass- it would have failed due to to being far too intrusive. Now they act as if they crafted that

loophole out of benevolence and all they need to do is close the loophole. This makes it more palatable than stating that they wish to further invade our privacy and limit our freedoms.

The NRA met with Vice President Biden and the gun violence task force today as part of a series of meetings with key stakeholders in the gun debate. The NRA’s statement about the meeting confirms that that White House was never interested in having an honest, inclusive debate about how to prevent tragedies like Newtown from happening again, but rather, is focused on its “agenda to attack the Second Amendment.”
