"No gun purchased at a gun show has ever been used in a mass shooting." Is that a true statement? I'd heard that the Columbine killers got at least one of their guns through a friend who purchased the gun at a gun show, and that the friend said she wouldn't have tried purchasing the gun had a background check been required.

As I understand the evidence in that case: No gun legally purchased at a gun show.....The teen psycho's at Columbine were not old enough to purchase guns, legally, on their own. They were armed by a friend that made a "straw purchase". That means the "friend" lied that the guns were for themself, making those guns illegally purchased. Any firearm purchased through a Federal Firearms License holding gun dealer is required by law to do an FBI backround check as part of that transaction, whether at a gun show or in a store front. The only purchases currently exempted from the backround check are private individual to private individual.

Surrounded by law enforcement officers, mayors, police chiefs, gun “safety” groups, Democratic legislators and a display of semi-automatic rifles and pistols, California Senator Dianne Feinstein introduced her new gun control legislation today on Capitol Hill.

“This is a tough battle,” Feinstein said in her opening remarks. “Some of us have been working to reduce gun violence for decades.”

The event kicked off with Rev. Gary Hall preaching about gun violence to the cameras, a mix of church and state liberals typically frown upon unless it serves a certain political purpose.
