They promised to repeal Obamacare which is a huge spending cut. If they win the senate there will not be anyone to make a deal with. If they do not win the senate nothing will happen. Hopefully they shut down the government. Romney can spend at the level of the Ryan budget and defund ObamaCare.

Larry we know about the tax cuts. I believe that Romney was convinced that he had to introduce himself as a person not a technocrat. As you said he did a great job of that. I think he had to tell the women of the country what a caring nurturing guy he really is ditto. He took his 59 point plan and turned it into 5 points. Very good. He could have said more. However his speech was powerful and effective. He already has us. He needs women.
Obama is doing exactly what he wants to do. Destroy America and create a socialist state. He has the full support of the MSM His democrat allies are grotesquely incompetent Fortunately our country is just smart enough to slow him down.

First of all it is soon to be established that oil and gas is/are not fossil fuels. Old fields are refilling, etc. Even under our current foolish policies we have 400 plus years of gas and 100 plus years of oil. Solar is a complete waste of time for 100 years or so.
Romney cannot agree to any plan that raises taxes. Insanity. Why on earth would we let the liberals increase the budget baseline by more than $1 trillion and then agree that we should pay for it. Simpson Bowles did the same assumed the budget baseline could not or would not be cut. For all of you boneheads like foxfire22 if the rich paid their fair share we would all be paying a lot more tax. First of all you confuse income and wealth. We have an income tax not a wealth tax. The top income earners already pay 75% plus of all income taxes. The wealth the rich have accumulated has already been taxed at least once and usually two or more times. Grow up and Wise up.
What? The close parity in fundraising is huge for the conservative side. Obama can only win by demonizing his opponent, in this case Romney. He won last time because McCain was awful, MSM succeeded in demonizing Bush, Obama outspent McCain 5 to 1. Obama will not have that spending advantage this time.

Page 2 is much better than page 1. Both our writer and the liberal idiots continue to confuse tax rates, which have not changed at all, with Tax collections (actual Payments) which changed a lot. On page two the writer points out clearly that tax rates do not effect tax collections nearly as much as the size of the economy and economic growth.

Larry, the stimulus has been rolled into the baseline budget. So it has clearly failed, but the amount is 3X $850 billion. For the investor class, Romney has to be very simple and clear about lower tax rates, rolling back regulation, supporting something similar to the Ryan budget and repealing ObamaCare. All of which he has committed to do.

All corporations, even GE pay tax. The fundamental that most if not all of the public and our genius MSM miss is the accrual/recording of a tax liability and the payment of taxes. With global companies it is even more difficult as foreign taxes, where the profits are made, etc make a big difference. The ongoing business activity or a corporation involves investment, sales, expenses, depreciation, allocation of cost to revenue, accrual of liabilities etc. The timing of expense and revenue recognition is different for SEC reporting and tax payment. The timing differences are why current cash tax payments seem out of synch with business activity in a year. All businesses operate under the same rules for the most part.
Kevin, almost everyone with earned income of over $1 million is paying over 30%. If you include Social security and State tax the rate is in the low to mid 40%s . The effective rate as you describe would be lower, but it still over 30%.

Give the NFL violence stuff a rest. All of the teams were doing it. Prosecute? For what? The NFL is a very violent sport. The collisions are high speed. Did you play football? Most, if not all the time, it is all a defender can do to get in position and hit or grab any part of the offensive players body that they can. Even the Saints players, when the film was reviewed, did not execute any hits that would result in a penalty in the game, say nothing about prosecution. Unfortunately, this violence campaign is just another liberal/feminist attic to ruin a popular game. Soon enough they will be playing flag football. Or as the Steelers Jack Lambert said in the 70's, "Why don't they just put a skirt on the offensive players."
