Go back and let State Legislatures select the Senators. By directly voting for Senators we have created six year Representatives like the House. They can't be touched for six years, then their party throws them a bone to help them get re-elected. this is where it became more about party politics than government of the people and by the people. No one is there representing their state in the Senate. they represent their party. there are no recall measures in most cases. Term limits are not necessary. In fact they can be detrimental. Just don't vote for them.

In his State of the Union address, President Barack Obama proposed raising the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $9 an hour. That would be almost a 25 percent increase. Let's look at the president's proposal, but before doing so, let's ask some other economic questions.

Are people responsive to changes in price? For example, if the price of cars rose by 25 percent, would people purchase as many cars?
