The following countries have allowed women into combat positions with no ill effect on their militaries or their standards of excellence: Israel, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand. Is there a reason the US military is not able to accomplish something that the Canadian military was able to do without a problem?
Last Thursday Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and other U.S. military leaders lifted the ban on women serving in combat positions. I, for one, think this is a great idea and have a few modest proposals, if the brass inside the beltway is open to suggestions, on how they should deploy the dames (and whom they should deploy).
First off, if you truly want to eviscerate the enemy—namely Muslims—then I propose sending the most nerve grating and foul women Hollywood has to offer straight into hot zones as our forward armies. I’m a thinkin’ starting off with Roseanne Barr, Joy...
Israel: Women were also barred from direct combat until 2000, when the first and so far only mixed gender infantry battalion was organized. But the five major infantry brigades are still all-male.
UK: Britain's all-volunteer military but are barred from ground force units whose primary mission is to "kill the enemy.
France:
Defense Ministry spokesman Gen. Martin Klotz said many women can't carry the 110 pounds (50 kilograms) of basic equipment, and submarines lack space for women's sleeping quarters.
