This is the problem about having a human puff ball critique what a man who devoted himself to a carrier of violence says about weapons. There is no such thing as a defensive or offensive weapon? So body armor is sometimes offensive and sometimes defensive? And a grenade is also sometimes offensive and sometimes defensive? And obviously every cop knows their job is to intimidate and show power, this is not something hidded, it's part of their job and we should not disarm them from preventing this function. This is not something Mr. Hill just discovered with his astute powers of logic.

It would be interesting to use all of our communication technologies to try to institute a direct democracy. The referenda here in California are always interesting, and a great check on the government's power.
Is the Catholic Church not in favor of amnesty?

And the funny thing is about this place, this population is very heavily armed, probably everybody here has a gun or two. But it doesn't protect them from tyranny, it's just another reason for the cops to haul them off.

This country is already a police state. Fighting a drug war against its own citizens. Largest prisoner population on the planet. I live in a gentrified part of South LA, and for the blacks here, it's an occupied area, like Baghdad, with the occupiers rolling through in LAPD cruisers, with helicopter support, lining up every male they find, laying them face down on the ground by the dozen for hours while they look for any minutre reason to take them away, then they usually leave with one guy and the rest are thanking the cops for letting them go home that day. And the scariest part is that my story probably got no sympathy from any of the readers here. "Get them gangbangers, LAPD!" is probably the reaction. And that's how it goes, divided we fall.
The US set up the UN, put in the US and controls its budget, because it was viewed as being advantegous to US interests, largely to oversee the decolonization process and keep the new countries still in the Western orbit. But since most US citizens have no idea of what happened 2 weeks ago, let alone in the 1940s, they think it was somehow imposed on them.

I don't really see how Russia could have ever profited off this, no player in that game has any hard currency. More likely it was the same deal as in the Cold War, Russia sending out weapons on credit never to be repaid, but nobody in power cares, as they personally do get paid, it's just their country that gets poorer. But for the larger point, the US has been pursuing large scale destabilization in the MidEast since the 90s, this is all unfolding pretty logically given that recognition.

The Pentagon as a Jobs Program

Michael160 Wrote: May 06, 2013 1:49 PM
Imagine being told in any other context that there was a government program that offered employment to anybody as long as their cirminal record wasn't serious and they could pass very undemanding physical and psych tests. Anybody in the country can apply and be virtually guaranteed this government job, and not just a job, but a job for life, with lifetime medical beneifts and a retirement package that lets you work in another field afterwards. But since it's a military thing, so very heroic, nobody dares complain.
Where did I get that? You are right, it's totally out there, nobody would come up with this crazy opinion. Except me and the entire Pentagon. Just us two tinfoil hat guys.
