Several people have commented on the solution being term limits. I disagree. The solution to these never-ending Washington "fixes" is prosecution. Don't ALL politicians in this country take an oath to uphold the laws of this nation? Obama's several "mandates" and run-arounds of the law should put in him a path to impeachment. And, other politicians, past and present, who have spent this country into the fiscal abyss should be prosecuted for fiscal irresponsibility. You don't "give" rights and benefits to illegal immigrants. They are ILLEGAL. You don't spend more money than you take in year-after-year. It's IRRESPONSIBLE. You don't pay out Social Security benefits in the manner it is done. It's called a PONZI SCHEME.

weapons-grade stupid;
HOW do you "prosecute" when Congress refuses to do it's job?
When the DemocRATs have a majority in the Senate,and the Repubs a majority in the House? Gridlock?
How do you prosecute when Comrade Obama's Justice Dept. refuses to do it's job?

THAT is a major reason why we need term limits,along with NO "careers" in Congress.
And no time for them to develop "relationships" with the lobbyists and power brokers,they're not in office long enough to be worth anything to special interests. Finally,the "representatives have to go home and live under the laws they enacted,and they have no perks,privileges,or special status of any kind. It removes the "elite" from that job. All this is absolutely necessary.

It’s been a year and half since the GOP and Democrats hammered out an agreement that raised the debt ceiling and put us on the lip of a fiscal cliff, threatening mutually assured destruction if a budget deal wasn’t worked out before January 2013.

It made sense for all sides at the time.

The GOP figured there was a good shot that Obama wasn’t going to be reelected. The Democrats figured there was a good chance shot Obama wasn’t going to be reelected. And Obama was content to do what he did best: run a campaign on TV, eat...
