In response to:

Marriage and Abortion are Economic Issues

Starr - I agree with the facts presented but don't agree with your "solution". The solution to the huge entitlement problem is NOT having more children. If half of the aborted babies in this country would have been saved, we'd simply have an even LARGER unemployment problem. Adding more people to an economy where millions already struggle to find jobs isn't going to solve anything. Yes, marriage needs to be strengthened. One way to do this is to cut off ALL aid to unmarried people. In other words, you don't give more welfare to unwed mothers for each child they have out-of-wedlock. People should get married because they want to share a life together AND because it makes economic sense.

We don't have high unemployment because we have a large population but because of the actions of government. Population is not the problem; big government is. Paul Ehrlich was dead wrong.

Weak argument. In a properly functioning economy, there would be jobs and job training, an ability to move up the ladder. When you have more people, you need more jobs to serve those people. Today, we've got an economy DESTROYED by liberalism.

So what would you do with unwed mothers?

Remember Jesus' mother was unwed.

...but, hardly a model for the unwed mothers of today.

No, Jesus' mother was wed.
Matt 1:24 "When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife."
Stop trying to twist the Bible which you obviously know nothing about.
Instead, go to church and attend Bible study.

The marriage was never consummated!

Could you post the video record from the webcam in their bedroom?

How about the brother of Jesus? Nice guy, goldilocks. Not famous, but a good brother. Named after John the Baptist, as I recall.

She was wed before Jesus was born. According to Matthew 1:18 and 19, she and Joseph were already married (the betrothal had as much force for them as the marriage rite has for us) when Joseph learned that she was carrying a child.

What is your documentation for your statement that the marriage was never consummated? Matthew 1:25 tells us that it was not consummated until after Jesus was born; it does not tell us that the marriage was never consummated.

The Catholic NT has a foot note
which denies the brothers and sisters where by Mary.
Virgin birth means no sexual relations with Joseph.
No sexual relations means no marriage was consummated.
