Walter Williams' words about success are right on. I'd add to this that MANY people simply shouldn't have children because they cannot afford them. Two adults, making $10 per hour, can lead a fairly good life in this nation IF they don't have children. No, they'd never be wealthy but they might be able to afford a small home and some niceties. Also, the statements about people's fortunes largely being dictated by life-style choices is so true. If you gamble excessively, you'll likely be broke. If you have a drug habit or abuse alcohol, you'll likely be miserable. You make $50,000 a year and have 6 kids? You'll struggle. If you don't make saving for your future a priority, you'll wind up at 65 years of age with little-to-nothing. Choices have consequences.
Why are illegal immigrants allowed to attend schools in the US? There is no "inalienable right" to college education. Throw the bum out.
Earth's climate, or weather, has ALWAYS been changing since the beginning of time. How people can deny this is beyond me. Just 10,000 or so years ago, a mere blink-of-an-eye in Earth's existence, much of North America was covered by glacial ice sheets up to 1 mile thick. Thanks, however, to "global warming", the ice has melted forming the Great Lakes and leaving an agricultural paradise to be plowed by the most productive farmers in the world. The Earth has been alternately hot and cold over millions of years. There just has to be forces much greater than carbon output from man at work here.
The result is the same in EVERY country with a totalitarian-style, narcissistic dictator; pretty words are really just a mask to the misery planned for the citizenry. A narcissist doesn't give a Tinker's darn about "the people". Obamacare is about control, not about improving healthcare in the US. If Obama and the Dems wanted to improve health, their legislation would have outlawed cigarettes, cigars, and marijuana. The law would have done away with snack cakes, M&Ms, and every candy bar sold in this nation. The legislation would have prevented the sale of alcohol, sugary drinks, and caffeinated beverages. The law would have MANDATED 30 minutes of daily exercise for the entire population. It would have made broccoli the national food and prohibited the production and sale of non-organic meats.
We continue to lower the bar for the highest office in the land. The current White House occupant was a community organizer who served a term(?) as an US Senator by voting "present" on a regular basis. What, exactly, were his credentials for President of the U.S.? As for Mrs. Clinton, she was nothing but a lawyer, apparently involved in some nefarious dealings ("I turned $1000 into $100,000 by investing in cattle futures"). She served as a Senator from the state of New York, although no one can explain why millions of New York state residents voted for a carpetbagger, and she's now served a term as Secretary of State and here accomplishments are what? Killary's biggest accomplishment has been staying married to a notorious womanizer and liar. And women look up to her why?

Mr. Thomas - I wish that you had provided some facts about the number of people employed at all levels of government in this war on poverty. I'm betting we, the taxpayers, are paying for a mighty big army that has been unsuccessful.

We've just opened a horse slaughtering plant here in Missouri. I hear that horses taste like chicken.

New Yorkers deserve everything they get under deBlasio. I hope that ALL of the wealthy leave the city and take all of their taxable income somewhere else.
I'm sorry but extending the benefits is the wrong thing to do. Unemployment benefits simply encourage people NOT to work, to stay home and collect a gub'ment check, and/or to work in the underground economy while still collecting taxpayer dollars. Yes, it's unfortunate if you are unemployed but the answer isn't to sit home on your backside and collect money from your mailbox. Congress should NOT pass an extended benefits package.

"Government by decree" is a very dangerous path. It encourages corruption on unprecedented levels. It leads to those with power and influence getting even MORE favorable treatment from the Federal Government and those without power (think middle class) subject to the whims of these decrees. This needs to end.
How about if God just treats America the same way that he treated Sodom and Gomorrah? That's about what we deserve at this point. These schools should be concerned about one thing and one thing only; offering a quality education to every student who wants to actually learn. This other stuff is just a load of cr@p.
