Catholic Group: "Pray for Paul Ryan's Change of Heart"

You appear to be misinformed as well. The USCCB have been clear. It is just that they don't listen. Many didn't listen to Jesus either. What that HIS fault or the fault of the listener? From the Bishops document on forming Conscience. 28. The first is a moral equivalence that makes no ethical distinctions between different kinds of issues involving human life and dignity. The direct and intentional destruction of innocent human life from the moment of conception until natural death is always wrong and is not just one issue among many. It must ALWAYS be opposed. )thecaps are mine)

Perfectly stated from the CCC, so how can you explain why so many Catholics cannot see the parallels b/t the dangers of socialism and the lovey-dovey 'social justice' scam that has been going on for 50 years? Whose God-given vocation is it to shepherd the flock? Whose sacred duty is it to teach the faithful? Thankfully, my parents picked up the ball that my 12 years of Catholic schooling dropped, and that yes, the shameful politicians at the USCCB continue to drop.

I wasn't talking about statements from the USCCB. I was talking about direct preaching from the pulpit. I was also talking about a Document written by the former president of the USCCB, now the abshp of my diocese, who publicly wrote a document encouraging Catholics to NOT vote for a personhood measure that was up for a vote in our state 2 weeks ago. Thankfully, it passed anyway, despite his best efforts. If you think those at the helm of the USCCB and their ilk, like Dolan, are fearlessly shepherding the Catholic faithful, you are misinformed. Misinformation filters down to the faithful, and that is exactly what has happened in this case.

From the CCC

1883 Socialization also presents dangers. Excessive intervention by the state can threaten personal freedom and initiative. The teaching of the Church has elaborated the principle of subsidiarity, according to which "a community of a higher order should not interfere in the internal life of a community of a lower order, depriving the latter of its functions, but rather should support it in case of need and help to co- ordinate its activity with the activities of the rest of society, always with a view to the common good."7

It’s the ultimate in Catholic double standards: a website called www.PrayForPaulsChangeOfHeart.org launched this week, calling for Catholics to pray that he abandons his Path to Prosperity budget in favor of something more in line with the Church’s social justice teachings. If you click around, you can also find a page with one sentence requesting prayers for Vice President Joe Biden, noted adamant supporter of the pro-choice cause. (It says nothing of Kathleen Sebelius, whose Mass attendance doesn’t exactly jive with her record of eschewing established Catholic doctrine.)

In condemning Ryan’s budget, the site pulls from the U.S....
