I don't need "papers"; I need my DL if I'm in a vehicle and I also need proof of insurance and registration. Are we "discriminating" against cars?

Faux outrage? Whaddaya nuts? 1) see below--- any driver license or govt issued ID will do 2) Yes, you must be a LEGAL citizen to get a DL. Never said different; a person with a green card can get a DL because he is a defacto citizen who must use the roads. 3) SCOTUS just gave EVERY PD in the US to demand ID from everyone in a vehicle upon a lawful stop. We can debate "lawful" stops but that has nothing to do with SB1070. Go complain to SCOTUS---AZ ain't your problem.

ericynot--- My point was YOUR many comments. They demonstrate that you are extremely uninformed about the costs of illegals in AZ and what the State wants to do to fix it to PROTECT their citizens. You didn't answer my questions and only saw the perceived insult. Should an illegal be able to take that less than 10 buck an hour job from my son? Should he be allowed to drive away at my financial or physical risk? Should he be held to the same laws as me? Is he "entitled" to welfare? Are you a citizen of AZ? Do you really KNOW what our laws are? Have you even READ SB1070? Do you know what benefits to illegals costs our state? Are you paying AZ bills? (I AM!) THAT is my point. From your history, you ought to better understand!

Actually, about the only place I know where police are wasting time as an art form is in the city of Scottsdale. We don't have a PD; we have a damned army. Otherwise, the Shreiff and DPS have bigger worries on heavily traveled, high speed interstates. They aren't cruising the neighborhoods. They are county or State employees. Illegals are simply a discovery upon a stop. Some here in AZ would like all police agencies to have the right to demand licenses even from pedestrians without cause. They are such a small minority--- like the OWS crowd. Insignificant. Would never happen.

No ---- AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN! Do you people not know how to READ? You CANNOT get a driver license in AZ unless you are a LEGAL citizen. The cops will know immediately when you give your driver license which is required of ALL drivers. Nothing new here people. So many have opinions about something they know little or nothing about!

Actually, some, if not most are missing the 800 lb. gorilla here. National ID would be like a National Driver License w/ all of the supporting info. SS doesn't have your residence address, voter registration (thanks to Motor Voter), and infraction records, along w/ other info collected when one gets a STATE driver license. Arizona was one of the States to tell the feds to pound sand when they "asked" for our driver license database. It's one thing when all 50 States have their info on citizens for their use and the benefit of their citizens; it's quite another to have the Federal gubmint to have this info on every citizen of all 50 States in one place! A driver license issued by a State is not a "show me your papers" scenario!

See the Bubblegum Analogy and think hard how much LEGAL immigration you want as well. Pandering and PCing the issue by saying you are all for legal immigration is weak as an argument. Check some facts before you are willing to give jobs to ANY non-American over that of your kids and grandkids.

Don't need that check mark system in AZ. If you are not a legal citizen you cannot get a license.
