Few years ago I came across an article about the DRD4 gene that claimed that liberalism is genetically predisposed; call it mental disease if you want, but I learned that some people will NOT be persuaded no matter how hard I tried to present my case in plain English. Well, my son grew out of his starry-eyed liberalism pretty early, my daughter did not, and I, regrettably, lost some of my (former) friends after heated debates. As Ann Coulter noted: "Historically, the best way to convert liberals is to have them move out of their parents' home, get a job, and start paying taxes". Well, some stay immune even when exposed to truth (see Ronald Reagan's biological kids, and how Michael turned out). Is it really that hard-wired? (cont'd)

Does it also mean that genetical liberalism starts prevailing? Can you force it out if people don't WANT to learn and are discouraged via public education?
Lastly, I wish we had some widely available means of (honest) education for the dumbest and illiterate on the level of the Julia cartoon, or the Rich cartoon. I just cannot see how we can overcome all the barriers created in the media for the conservative message.

With all the talk about taxing the rich, we hear very little talk about taxing the poor. Yet the marginal tax rate on someone living in poverty can sometimes be higher than the marginal tax rate on millionaires.

While it is true that nearly half the households in the country pay no income tax at all, the apparently simple word "tax" has many complications that can be a challenge for even professional economists to untangle.
