I don't know why you think you know so much about my marriage. My wife and (we happen to be straight) tried our best to give our sons a good childhood. There were always ups and downs, but I think we succeeded. At least both our sons, the straight one and the gay one, seem to think so. One of them is married legally, and the other one will be able to do so soon, I hope, in New York state. The fact is, J, that the majority of children brought up in gay households are BIOLOGICAL children of at least one of the gay parents in the family. This is even more prevalent in lesbian households, which are more numerous than gay men households. You seem to forget that gay people are perfectly capable of reproducing and having biological children. With your statements, you seem to denigrate mostly straight parents who adopt children. If we follow your logic, there are many times more straight couples who adopt than gay couples. Do you accuse them of "purchasing parental experiences"? Are they "consumer parents"? Sure they can. You keep thinking narrow thoughts. Gay men and women are first of all MEN and WOMEN. Besides, what makes you think that the biological parents are what's best for a child? I know plenty of mommies and daddies from hell, and it is biological parents above all others who cripple children psychologically, whether these children are straight or gay. There is only one criterion for a good parent: how much he /she loves the child in his/her care. There is nothing magical about biological parents. You need a license to fish, a license to hunt; you need a license to drive a car; but any damn ass_hole can become a parent.
