I disagree. It means you're adults who realize you have children to raise together, despite being in separate households. If a new spouse doesn't understand that, the new marriage is doomed to fail. It's as simple as that.

They also need to make child support payments tax deductible like alimony is. The way it works now, the father (normally the one paying support) has to pay child support with what's left over after taxes, but he mother receiving the support doesn't have to report it as income. He's hit twice, she's not hit at all. If it can't be tax deductible, at least reduce his burden or offset it with hers.
